Critical Vulnerability in Popular Altcoin Network: Three Days of Transactions Could Be Erased
A critical consensus vulnerability detected on the Ravencoin network has put approximately three days of transactions at risk of being rolled back.
Ravencoin (RVN), one of the popular cryptocurrency projects, has been shaken by a serious security vulnerability on its network. According to official statements by developers, a consensus error in the network was exploited by malicious actors, leading some nodes to accept invalid blocks.
The first invalid block causing the network issue was detected at height 4,487,776. Following this development, major mining pools responsible for network security, such as 2Miners and RavenMiner, intervened. These pools announced they have begun working on a clean chain that excludes the faulty transactions.
Risk of Deep Reorganization on the Ravencoin Network
If this new chain being worked on by miners becomes dominant, a deep reorganization will occur on the Ravencoin (RVN) network. This technical process carries the risk of completely deleting or rolling back approximately three days of transactions located on the faulty chain. Project officials have called on cryptocurrency exchanges to temporarily suspend RVN deposits and withdrawals during this process.
It is emphasized that all transactions confirmed after block number 4,487,775 are particularly “reversible.” According to shared data, since mining pools did not accept a more recent rollback point, users should not trust new confirmations until the network is fully stabilized. While it is noted that some transactions might fall back into the transaction pool, there is no guarantee, and investors are advised to act with caution until the network status becomes clear.
