Customers Asked, Major Bank Opens the Door to Crypto: Launches With 5 Assets, Including Bitcoin!
First National Bank (FNB), part of one of South Africa’s largest banking groups, has added trading in five crypto assets to its existing share-trading platform in response to rising customer demand.
According to Wu Blockchain, FNB launched the new service in partnership with licensed local cryptocurrency exchange VALR. The bank, part of South Africa’s second-largest banking group by assets, is now allowing customers to invest in cryptocurrencies through the platform they use to trade shares.
Launched with Bitcoin and four other crypto assets
Initially, customers can buy and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP, Solana (SOL), and Tether (USDT). The service is available around the clock, and customers can trade with amounts starting at 10 South African rand.
FNB said the service was introduced in response to rising customer demand. The bank’s plans are not limited to these five assets; it also aims to offer customers additional crypto investment options in the future.
