Interesting Warning from Binance Founder CZ: Satoshi’s 1 Million BTC Could Be Frozen

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) proposed freezing 1 million Bitcoin believed to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto against the threat of quantum computing.

One of the most influential names in the cryptocurrency world, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ), made striking statements regarding the future security of the Bitcoin network. In an interview with Galaxy, CZ highlighted the potential of quantum computers to break current encryption methods, emphasizing that the network must be prepared for this threat.

According to CZ’s proposal, if Bitcoin (BTC) undergoes a fork in the future to transition to a quantum-resistant structure, addresses linked to Satoshi Nakamoto should be given a specific grace period. The owners of these wallets, which hold approximately 1,000,000 BTC, would be given 6 to 12 months to migrate their assets to the new protocol. If there is no activity within this period, freezing the addresses in question could come onto the agenda.

Satoshi Precaution Against the Quantum Threat

The basis of this radical proposal lies in preventing the first person with quantum processing power from seizing the private keys of these inactive wallets. CZ argues that it is safer to protect these assets through a community decision rather than letting them fall into the hands of malicious actors. Acknowledging that there is no perfect solution to this situation, the famous figure stated that the final decision must be made by miners and the community.

This proposal, which has caused a major stir in the cryptocurrency community, brings along discussions about Bitcoin’s decentralized structure and property rights. However, as the quantum threat becomes more serious, taking such drastic measures to ensure the network’s security may become an unavoidable necessity.
