Meme Coin Craze Fades on Robinhood Chain: Massive $325 Million Capital Rotation Underway
While Robinhood Chain has reached $325 million in total value locked since its mainnet launch, a decline in trading volume and user numbers suggests the meme coin craze is giving way to stagnation.
Robinhood Chain, the proprietary blockchain of finance giant Robinhood, made a swift market entry, reaching approximately $325 million in total value locked (TVL) in less than a month. While there has been no decline in the TVL amount since the network’s launch, with user interest and capital flow continuing uninterrupted, transaction traffic and user activity have begun to retreat from their peaks in the second week despite these growth figures.
Last week, decentralized exchange (DEX) volume averaged $553 million per day, marking a 27% decline compared to the previous week. The number of daily active accounts decreased by 7%, falling to an average of 275,000. The most striking data point came from the capital turnover ratio; this rate, which stood at 9.25x in the second week of July, dropped to 1.68x as of last Friday.
Strategy Shift on Robinhood Chain: From Trading to Yield
This sharp shift in data indicates that capital entering the network is now focusing on generating yield rather than trading. The drop in transaction volume per active account from the $2,800 level to the $2,000 range further supports this trend. In particular, the estimated 7% annual percentage yield (APY) for USDG offered via Robinhood Earn has steered investors away from active trading and toward passive income.
The activity in the network’s early days was fueled by a mini meme coin season triggered by CEO Vlad Tenev’s post stating it “works well for meme coins.” During this period, assets like CASHCAT saw gains of up to 962%, but this excitement quickly faded. All eyes are now on the second-quarter earnings report to be announced on Wednesday. This report is expected to provide critical clues regarding the network’s future plans for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization projects.
