Only 9 Altcoins Have Outperformed Bitcoin: One Is Up 14x Against BTC!

According to Glassnode, since Bitcoin’s all-time high, only nine altcoins that were in the top 50 at the time have outperformed BTC. Zcash (ZEC) stood out by far, rising to 14.4 times its starting value in Bitcoin terms.

The analysis tracks the group that was in the top 50 when Bitcoin hit its peak, not today’s top 50 altcoins. The chart’s visible time axis runs from November 2025 to September 2026. The results should therefore not be read as a daily or weekly performance ranking.

Top performers against Bitcoin

The chart shows ZEC at 14.4x, HYPE at 2.9x, XMR at 2.6x, and NEAR at 2.1x. The benchmark for comparison is Bitcoin at 1x: Values above that indicate that the altcoin in question outperformed BTC over the period examined.

This measure shows the altcoin’s change in value relative to Bitcoin, not its gain in dollar terms. For example, ZEC’s 14.4x figure does not mean its dollar price rose by the same amount or that it delivered a return 14.4 times Bitcoin’s.

Other altcoins clearly labeled on the chart include UNI at 1.6x, TRX at 1.5x, LEO at 1.4x, and TAO at 1.2x. Glassnode reports that a total of nine altcoins outperformed Bitcoin, but the names visible in the image are not enough to identify all nine.

The main takeaway is that strong outperformance by a few altcoins did not extend across the entire group. 41 of the 50 altcoins examined failed to outperform Bitcoin; this does not mean that all of those assets lost value in dollar terms.
