As Bitcoin miners shift their computing power to the more profitable artificial intelligence sector, the network’s hash rate has dropped 20 percent since its peak in October.

Current data shared by the on-chain data analysis platform Glassnode points to a significant decline in the hash rate, which represents the total processing power on the Bitcoin (BTC) network. Rather than a simple network weakness, this decline is being defined as the “Great AI Migration,” where miners are redirecting their hardware capacities toward artificial intelligence projects.
According to Glassnode’s analysis, the network’s mining difficulty has been adjusted downward 12 consecutive times to balance this decrease in hash rate. The shared charts clearly show that the 90-day change in hash rate, particularly in recent months, has remained in negative territory, with the difficulty level adapting to this situation. Despite this structural change, the Bitcoin network maintains its resilience by continuing block production as planned.
