Bitcoin Jumps 25% While Santiment Sentiment Metric Dips Into Negative Territory for the First Time
Although Bitcoin rose approximately 25 percent between August 16 and 26, the indicator measuring investor sentiment dropped into negative territory on August 26 for the first time since the start of the rally.
Bitcoin’s price was around $62,800 on August 16 and approached $78,900 on August 26. As a result, the cryptocurrency recorded its strongest 10-day rally of the year. Data shared by Santiment Intelligence showed that this movement was not supported by widespread investor enthusiasm to the same extent.
Weighted sentiment attempts to measure the overall mood of positive and negative posts about the market. This indicator fell to -0.023 on August 26. Santiment noted that the August 26 data belonged to a partial day that was not yet complete.

Investor sentiment weakened as Bitcoin rose
The seven-day average sentiment, which smooths out fluctuations in daily data, remained at approximately +0.009. The average reached its short-term peak around +0.020 on August 25. However, this level was not high enough to indicate strong market euphoria.
The highest daily sentiment value of the move was measured at +0.054 on August 19. This date coincided with the day the Treasury news came to the fore. In the following days, sentiment declined while the Bitcoin price continued to rise.
This picture reveals that an unusual divergence has formed between the Bitcoin rally and investor sentiment. The negative value on August 26 is not considered a definitive sell or crash signal on its own; it simply shows that the price increase has not yet been fully reflected in the social market mood.
