Grayscale Gives the Green Light While Bitcoin Sits 39% Below Record High: What’s Driving the Confidence?

Grayscale Head of Research Zach Pandl stated that Bitcoin has bottomed out at approximately $58,000 and that they have given the green light for clients to invest in digital assets.

In an interview with The Block, Grayscale Head of Research Zach Pandl maintained his view that the approximately $58,000 level Bitcoin reached around June 30 marked the bottom of the current bear market phase. Based on this assessment, Pandl noted that they have sent a positive signal to clients regarding allocating to the digital asset class.

According to Pandl’s explanation, Grayscale examines three key areas in its decisions regarding Bitcoin: long-term structural trends, the current stage of the market cycle, and the macroeconomic outlook. The institution believes that digital asset adoption and digital scarcity are persisting, the market has moved through its bear phase, and macroeconomic conditions have reached a sufficient level.

Grayscale’s Bitcoin decision is based on three criteria

Stating that all three criteria have now been met, Pandl said they have given clients the “green light” for allocation.

Bitcoin was trading above $76,000 on the same day. Despite this, the price remained 39% below its record high of approximately $126,000. Pandl’s assessment is based on the view that even though the current price remains below its peak, the bearish phase may be over.

Pandl also touched upon Grayscale’s Zcash product, which has been offered for nearly nine years. He stated that rather than competing directly with Bitcoin, Zcash focuses on the privacy sector, which he believes is lacking in digital assets. He noted that while Zcash prioritizes privacy, it sacrifices some of the auditability offered by Bitcoin’s transparent structure.
