Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company owns approximately 150,000 Bitcoin and shared plans spanning energy and mining to artificial intelligence.
According to Wu Blockchain, Ardoino disclosed that Tether holds approximately 150,000 BTC during his remarks at the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano. The figure for the USDT issuer’s Bitcoin holdings reflects the CEO’s statement about its current balance.
Ardoino also said Tether serves more than 730 million users worldwide and adds approximately 30 million new wallets each quarter.
Mining and AI plans beyond Bitcoin
The talk also covered an initiative Tether calls the Independence Stack. The framework Ardoino described spans energy, Bitcoin mining, peer-to-peer communication, wallets where users hold their own private keys, and artificial intelligence that runs directly on devices.
These areas make up different parts of the company’s plans to expand its activities beyond stablecoin issuance.
