Solana added 13 companies, including Disney and GameStop, to the tokenized U.S. stocks offered by Securitize, bringing the total number of stocks to 25.
According to The Block, Securitize added new options for blockchain-traded versions of U.S. stocks in an expansion announced Monday. The leading companies in the new group include:
- ExxonMobil
- GameStop
- Salesforce
- Disney
The tokens traded on Solana are backed one-to-one by the underlying stocks. Eligible investors can benefit from the economic rights associated with these stocks and, where applicable, dividend and voting rights.
Is Wall Street’s new service a competitor?
The expansion comes as DTCC, a key part of the U.S. securities infrastructure, launches its tokenization service. StoneX analysts believe DTCC’s initiative supports Securitize’s business model rather than threatening it.
According to analyst Mark Palmer, the two companies focus on different areas. While DTCC’s permissioned structure is initially limited to certain securities, participants, and networks, Securitize offers assets on public blockchains that can be used in funds, stocks, and decentralized finance applications.
StoneX sees Securitize’s infrastructure as an SEC-registered transfer agent, broker-dealer, and alternative trading system as an advantage. This setup brings together the services companies need to offer their own stocks on the blockchain.
Tokenized assets are also becoming collateral
Another area analysts highlighted is the use of tokenized assets as collateral for borrowing. StoneX expects the ability to transfer U.S. Treasury securities at any time of day could eventually increase demand for tokenized funds and stocks as collateral as well.
This use is already emerging in private credit. The total value of tokenized private credit assets on Solana has reached $1.44 billion, while Securitize and Maple’s credit tokens are accepted as collateral on lending platforms such as Kamino.
StoneX maintained its “buy” rating on SECZ shares and its $18 price target. At the time the source article was published, the stock was trading at around $7.30; the price target reflects StoneX’s outlook for the company.
