Massive Operation from Coinbase: Institutional Accounts Moving to the World’s Largest Options Exchange
Coinbase has announced that it will migrate the international exchange accounts and positions of its institutional clients to the Deribit platform, the world’s largest crypto options exchange.
Coinbase, one of the giants of the cryptocurrency world, is reshaping its institutional operations with a strategic move. The company plans to transfer the accounts, balances, and existing positions of institutional clients within Coinbase International Exchange to the Deribit platform on September 9. With this transition process, the collaboration between the two giant platforms will reach a new dimension at the institutional level.
Trading is expected to be paused for approximately 30 minutes during the migration process. During this time, all open orders will be automatically canceled. Existing positions will be closed at the mark price and recreated on Deribit at the same reference price. However, users’ existing API keys and margin loans will not be transferred to this new platform.
Deribit Era Begins for Institutional Investors
Institutional clients who do not wish to participate in this major migration operation must close their accounts and positions by August 28. Deribit is currently known as the world’s highest-volume crypto options exchange. This move by Coinbase aims to facilitate institutional investors’ access to a more liquid and specialized derivatives market.
This integration, symbolized by the Coinbase and Deribit logos coming together, has the potential to shift the balance in the institutional crypto ecosystem. All technical details have been meticulously planned to ensure that investors do not experience any losses during the transition process. Known particularly for its dominance in the options markets, Deribit will significantly expand its customer base with this move.
